Biography

Karin Schnaider is the Assistant City Manager for the City of Tracy, overseeing City Manager/City Clerk Office, Parks and Recreation, Information Technology, and Mobility and Housing Services. Prior to promoting to her current position, Karin served as Finance Director for the cities of Tracy, Benicia, and Sierra Madre. Karin’s 20 years of municipal finance experience include providing sound fiscal policies, timely audit completion, and effective accounting software conversions in support of full-service agencies. Her policy and leadership experience in Tracy also includes developing the City Council’s Fiscal Sustainability-Budget Principles, preparing Business Tax and Cannabis Tax measures, drafting cannabis regulatory ordinance and permit processes, overseeing of the City’s State and Federal lobbying activities, and supporting the City Manager’s department restructuring plans. Karin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from San Diego State University, and a Master’s in Public Policy Administration from California State University, Long Beach. She currently serves as Past-President of the League of California Cities (CalCities) Fiscal Officer Department, and participates as a member of the CalCities Revenue and Tax – Sales Tax Subcommittee and Public Safety Committee. She also serves on the Contra Costa County Emergency Medical Care Committee.
