Rick Bruneau serves as Controller for the City of San José, overseeing the general accounting, financial reporting, accounts payable, and payroll functions. His primary responsibilities include preparing audited financial statements for the City, administering the accounting system, monitoring the City’s internal control structure, implementing new Government Accounting Standards Board pronouncements, and leading the City’s disaster cost recovery efforts. Rick also served as the City’s Deputy Director of Finance, Revenue Management Division, leading the billing, collections, revenue analysis and auditing functions. Before joining the City of San José, Rick worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco as a Senior Finance Manager responsible for financial planning and budgeting activities. Additionally, Rick worked for the Defense Contract Audit Agency performing audits of incurred costs and reviews of accounting practices and systems. Rick earned a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Eastern Connecticut State University, a MBA from the University of Massachusetts, and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant.
